The ukiyo-e woodblock print series ‘28 Famous Murders with Verse’ is one of the most gruesome works in the history of art. The artist, Tsukioka Yoshitoshi (1839 - 1892) was a e great master of Ukiyo-e art. This series was produced quite early in his career (1867) when the artist was young. All of the murder scenes in this collection have some historical basis and are mostly from popular kabuki plays of the Edo-era
